I was working on a project and I started getting all these freaking messages about.....
"blah blah, could not check everything out" plus visual source safe would create a new project within that project everytime I open up that project. So today it would be.. project123, and tommorow project123\project123 and so on.
But wait, it does not stop there. Visual Source Safe makes sure that you are punished if you try to remove a project from VS. So then I moved the project out of Source Safe and started working on a local copy, and then I get this shit...
"The file is protected by source code control. You must check out the file before it can be modified.
There was no option to check out, and no padlock showing that it was checked in. I went to source safe, but I had removed the project from source safe, so I could not check if the item was checked out or not.
I had to open each file within the project, right-click on the tab, select "Save as", and Overwrite, and that was it.
It's bad enough that source safe sucks, but it's even worst that they try to punish you if you try to remove a project from their system.
